Bald Eagles can be seen soaring and hunting. Their huge nests overhang many trees along our banks. We also seem to be blessed (or cursed) with four species of gulls, including our largest and most common, Glaucous. Be wary, a hot dog makes a quick snack! Three species of Cormorants can be seen in large groups feeding and roosting together on rookeries surrounding Victoria; Intermixed with Shearwaters and Grebes, you're sure to get a good show. Loons are also one of the many sea birds seen bobbing about the ocean. Our personal favorite, the Blue Heron,is prevalent. These shy but curious birds are expert fishermen in Victoria's inner harbour and beyond.
