Although cumbersome and slow above water, these mammals are the barn swallows of the sea. Bachelor males (and a few females) of Stellar and California Sea lions cover the rookeries in spring and early summer, on their way to northern feeding grounds and again in late summer and fall, following late salmon and herring runs. Adorable Harbour Seals, are year round residents of our waters and are always a treat!

With a triumphant snort, Elephant Seals, may greet you on their way to breeding grounds in California in the spring, or on their way to feed in the Berring Sea in the fall. We are happy to see a few individuals have decided to take up summer residency along our shorelines.
